This tour will take you to the highlights of Bangkok. Wat Prakaew, or the Temple of Emerald Buddha, which enshrines the sacred carved Jade Buddha and is the most sacred temple in Thailand. The Grand palace was formerly the residence of Thai kings, and at present, some buildings are still used for ceremonies and receptions for visiting heads of State and guests of their Majesties. Wat Trimit, an old temple in Chinatown, enshrines the largest golden Buddha figure in the world and has been recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. And one cannot miss to visit Bangkok’s first university, Wat Pho. Wat Pho is famous for their Thai massage school but also known for the second largest reclining Buddha in Thailand. We’ll have lunch at a local restaurant (cost of lunch is not included in the tour fee) and then take a longtail speed boat (known as James Bond’s boat) into various canals in Bangkok. We’ll visit Wat Paknam, where Phra Maha Chedi Maha Ratchamongkhon (a Buddhist stupa with a height of 80 meters) and Phra Buddha Dhammakaya Thep Mongkol (a Buddha figure in a meditation posture that’s 69 meters tall) both stands. We’ll finish the tour with a visit to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) which used to be a royal temple in the old palace during the Thonburi period and its beautiful pagoda is currently used by the Tourism Authority of Thailand as its official logo.
