Enjoy the tour as you hop-on, hop-off this journey from a Tuk Tuk. Visit Wat Trimit, an old temple in Chinatown which enshrines the largest golden Buddha image in the world and has been recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Then pass by the flower market, Grand Palace and Wat Pho before crossing the river to the other side of Bkk to visit Wat Arun (which used to be a royal temple in the old palace during the Thonburi period) and the beautiful pagoda used by the Tourism Authority of Thailand as its logo. At the end of the trip a Tuk Tuk will take you to relax or stroll through Princess Mother Memorial Park, built by King Bhumibol Adulyadej in remembrance of his mother, Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother. The park contains gardens and a reproduction of the royal mother’s childhood home.
Next is the Guan Yu Shrine, a historic shrine of Lord Guan, Martial God of Loyalty and Righteousness in Chinese beliefs. This shrine is the oldest Guan Yu shrine in Thailand and over 280 years old, built in the Ayutthaya period during the reign of King Borommakot (corresponding to the reign of Qianlong Emperor of Qing Dynasty).
Before returning to the hotel, you can relax and enjoy the breeze at My Grandparent’s house, a beautiful Thai-style house along the Chao Phraya River built in 1929 by the “Tang Sombat” family, the owner of Ruang Thong fish sauce. Inside, the house is still filled with memories told through old furniture and photographs.
